Through expert-led sessions covering slit-lamp imaging, visual fields, tomography, lacrimal assessment, ultrasound, OCT, and more, this module builds the essential investigative skills required for accurate diagnosis and clinical decision-making.

Dr. Ahmed Awadein, MD, FRCS is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Cairo University.
He received his doctorate degree from Cairo University in 2003 and his ophthalmology fellowship degree from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2004. He acquired clinical fellowship training in Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland, USA in 2006, where he received an intensive medical and surgical hands-on training in the field of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
Dr. Ahmed Awadein is specialized in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus and has performed over 15000 strabismus operations to date, including complex and recurrent cases. He has over 50 international publications in the field of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus and has developed a computerized test to assist in the evaluation of patients with diplopia. He also participated as an instructor in various national and international conferences and is currently the secretary general of the Egyptian Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (EAPOS).

Mr Yagan graduated from Aleppo medical school in 1997 in Syria and joined the ophthalmology postgraduate training programme where he achieved a Masters in Ophthalmology degree in 2001.
He has been a consultant in neuro ophthalmology and strabismus surgery at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital since 2015 dealing with complex neuro ophthalmic and ocular motility conditions and performing squint surgeries as well as botulinum toxin injections.
Mr Yagan is a clinical and educational supervisor training doctors in neuro ophthalmology, squint and cataract surgeries. He authored several papers, posters and presentations both nationally and internationally on ophthalmology in general and neuro ophthalmology and ocular motility.
He is the director of medical education & Associate Medical Director at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He is also a medico legal expert in neuro ophthalmology, strabismus and general ophthalmology.
Mr Yagan is a fellow of the Royal college of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth), North of England Ophthalmology Society (NEOS) and a member of the UK neuro ophthalmology society (UKNOS) and the British Isles Neuro Ophthalmology Club (BINOC).

Essam ElToukhy is Professor & Head of Oculoplasty service, Cairo University, Egypt & head of Examination Committee, Arab Board of Ophthalmology. He was trained in Cleveland and New York. He published several books on Oculoplasty & reconstructive Surgery and authored many book chapters and peer reviewed publications in major journals on this topic. He operated, lectured in over 30 countries and trained hundreds of trainees over 24 years. He serves as Advisor on trachoma to the WHO. He organizes a yearly ? Oculoplasty from A-Z? course for residents and fellows from around the world since 2006. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, The Arab Board of Ophthalmology , The Egyptian Fellowship of Ophthalmology, Cairo University and several other universities and associations. Dr Gdih graduated from Al-Arab Medical school, Benghazi-Libya, in the year 2000, he then moved to Canada, where he completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Ottawa, then he completed a postdoctoral clinical fellowship training in Glaucoma at the University of Toronto, Canada.
After completing his training he was appointed as a teaching staff and glaucoma specialist at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, he has been practicing glaucoma and anterior segment surgery for 11 yrs, he is also heavily involved with research, medical and surgical teaching at the department of Ophthalmology, University of Manitoba. He practices at both Misericordia Health center and the Children Health Science Center where he provides tertiary care at these centers , he is also the founder and medical director of Aqua i Laser center.
Dr. Gdih contributed significantly to international ophthalmology, where he travels twice a year to volunteer his time for teaching and providing ophthalmic care to different hospitals in Libya for the last 10 yrs.

Dr Ramesh Kekunnaya is the Network Director ? Technology Innovation at LVPEI. The other major portfolios that he is handling include Director of the Child Sight Institute, Director of Centre for Technology Innovation, and Head – Jasti V Ramanamma Children?s Eye Care Centre at LVPEI. Dr Kekunnaya is also an Executive Bureau Director of the World Society for Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS), Founder Executive Bureau member of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Network (POSN) of India, and an Administrative Council Member of the International Strabismological Association (ISA).
Dr Kekunnaya received his basic medical training from the Karnataka Medical College, Hubli, and specialized in ophthalmology from the Government Medical College, Mysore. He completed a fellowship in Paediatric and Neuro Ophthalmology, Strabismus and Comprehensive Ophthalmology at LVPEI, followed by a Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship (AAPOS accredited) at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California, USA. His core clinical interests include simple and complex strabismus in adults and children (squint), childhood cataract, vision development, myopia, amblyopia (lazy eye) and neuro-ophthalmological disorders in children.
He has been honoured with Achievement Awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr Kekunnaya is also the recipient of the International Scholar Award and International Education Award from AAO, and Honor Award from the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
Dr Kekunnaya has authored over 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals in addition to having written over 25 text book chapters. He is the Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Section Editor for the British Journal of Ophthalmology, the Current Eye Research, and the BMJ Open Ophthalmology. He has presented widely, is invited as keynote speakers at both national and global levels, and is passionate about teaching.
Known as a calm and composed person by his fellow-colleagues, Dr Kekunnaya spends his free time listening to music and watching movies.

Dr. Sashwanthi Mohan is a Specialist Ophthalmologist at Medcare Eye Centre in Dubai, renowned for providing high-quality patient care in cataract and vitreoretina. She is proficient in a wide range of ophthalmic procedures, including retinal lasers, intravitreal injections, and cataract and vitreoretinal surgeries.
Dr. Mohan completed her DNB Ophthalmology at the prestigious L.V. Prasad Eye Institute in India, where she was awarded the Dr. G. Venkataswamy Gold Medal. She further honed her expertise during her vitreoretinal fellowship at Sankara Nethralaya, where she was recognized as the Best Outgoing Vitreoretinal Fellow and Lady Fellow.
In addition to her clinical work as a visiting consultant, Dr. Mohan serves as the Education & Research Associate at Rajan Eye Care Hospital in India. In this capacity, she contributes to advancing the ophthalmic knowledge base through research and publications. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and serves on the editorial boards of the Ophthalmology Foundation and the Tamilnadu Journal of Ophthalmic Science and Research.
Dr. Mohan is dedicated to sharing her insights and resources with the ophthalmic community. She founded the educational website Ophthalmobytes, delivers lectures, and runs the social media initiative #Retina101bySM. Her professional distinctions include being a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO) and a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (MRCS).

He has a special interest in adult strabismus, paediatric ophthalmology, and cataract surgery. He started his ophthalmology career at Kings College London, continuing? as a specialist registrar at the Leicester Royal Infirmary where he? undertook further advanced training as a fellow in adult strabismus? surgery. He also completed further specialist training in Paediatric? Ophthalmology at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He is committed to teaching and training and has mentored several? residents and fellows over the years. He has been awarded the Fellowship?of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) by University College London and the Fellowship of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO). He runs two successful training courses annually: the London Eye Course and?Binocular.
