He graduated from Ain Shams University, Egypt in December 1982, completing a diploma, master?s degree, and PhD, in addition to earning the General Egyptian Fellowship of the Egyptian Medical Society. He is a Fellow and Examiner of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) and serves on the review board for the American Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports.
He is currently a Neuro-Ophthalmology Consultant at Plymouth University Hospital, Royal Eye Infirmary, UK. He established the neuro-ophthalmology services at The National Eye Center (NEC), Rod El-Farag, and at Watany Eye Hospitals, both of which he continues to supervise.
With a strong focus on education, he developed a hands-on training course for ophthalmology skills (OST) that began within the Egyptian Fellowship Program and continues at Watany and NEC, where it evolved into a ?train-the-trainer? program still active today. He also launched an ongoing international online 11-month neuro-ophthalmology subspecialty program (DANNOVA), now in its fourth cycle.
He continues to lecture and teach at Plymouth and online, with several Arabic-language lectures available on YouTube. He has served as speaker and chairman at multiple conferences in Egypt.

Dr. Ahmed Awadein, MD, FRCS is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Cairo University.
He received his doctorate degree from Cairo University in 2003 and his ophthalmology fellowship degree from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2004. He acquired clinical fellowship training in Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland, USA in 2006, where he received an intensive medical and surgical hands-on training in the field of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
Dr. Ahmed Awadein is specialized in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus and has performed over 15000 strabismus operations to date, including complex and recurrent cases. He has over 50 international publications in the field of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus and has developed a computerized test to assist in the evaluation of patients with diplopia. He also participated as an instructor in various national and international conferences and is currently the secretary general of the Egyptian Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (EAPOS).

Dr. Ahmed Mostafa Abdelrahman, MD, FRCSEd, is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Cairo University (since 2009). He earned a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Total Quality Management for Healthcare Reform in 2015 and is the founder and president of the Egyptian Society for Continuous Ophthalmic Education.
He is a glaucoma consultant with national and international publications and innovations in glaucoma surgery, with special interests in non-penetrating glaucoma surgeries, laser trabeculoplasty, and childhood glaucomas. He serves as a glaucoma reviewer for several PubMed-indexed ophthalmology journals.
Dr. Abdelrahman is the owner of the Giza Specialized Eye Center, a tertiary glaucoma care facility, and has been the director of the certified Glaucoma Workshop Program since 2019. In 2016, he was appointed by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) as an examiner for college exams.
He received the Education Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2019 and the International Scholar Award in 2021.

Alaa Din Abdin, MD, FEBO, FICO, MRCSEd (Ophth), is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Managing Senior Consultant. He specializes in medical and surgical vitreoretinal diseases and serves as Head of the Center for Intravitreal Injections in the Department of Ophthalmology at Saarland University Medical Center (UKS) in Homburg, Germany.
He is an active member of the European and German societies for retinal diseases. His research focuses on age-related macular degeneration and pachychoroid spectrum disease. Dr. Abdin has organized and lectured at numerous national and international conferences and scientific meetings in this field.

Mr Yagan graduated from Aleppo medical school in 1997 in Syria and joined the ophthalmology postgraduate training programme where he achieved a Masters in Ophthalmology degree in 2001.
He has been a consultant in neuro ophthalmology and strabismus surgery at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital since 2015 dealing with complex neuro ophthalmic and ocular motility conditions and performing squint surgeries as well as botulinum toxin injections.
Mr Yagan is a clinical and educational supervisor training doctors in neuro ophthalmology, squint and cataract surgeries. He authored several papers, posters and presentations both nationally and internationally on ophthalmology in general and neuro ophthalmology and ocular motility.
He is the director of medical education & Associate Medical Director at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He is also a medico legal expert in neuro ophthalmology, strabismus and general ophthalmology.
Mr Yagan is a fellow of the Royal college of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth), North of England Ophthalmology Society (NEOS) and a member of the UK neuro ophthalmology society (UKNOS) and the British Isles Neuro Ophthalmology Club (BINOC).

Prof. Ashraf Shaaban Shaarawy, MD, PhD, is Professor and Chairman of the Ophthalmology Department at Alexandria University in Egypt. He completed his medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, followed by a Master?s and PhD in Ophthalmology. He trained further through clinical and research fellowships at Saint Louis University, Barnes Retina Institute in the USA, and Hospital Croix-Rousse in Lyon, France.
Prof. Shaarawy is a medical and surgical retina consultant with particular interest in age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and vascular occlusions. He serves at Alexandria University Hospitals and maintains a busy private practice. He is also the Head of El Safwa Center for Laser and Eye Surgery in Alexandria since 2015.
He has published multiple peer-reviewed studies in major ophthalmology journals, presented research at international conferences, and contributed significantly to the retinal field. He is an active member of numerous ophthalmic societies including AAO, ARVO, EuroRetina, AASRS, and the Egyptian Vitreoretinal Society.

Professor Yehia Salah ElDin Mostafa, MD, MSc, PhD, is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. He is the Chairman and Founder of eyeCare Center in Maadi (2009?2020), and a consultant and co-founder of Al Ayoon Al Dawly and Dar Aloyoun Eye Hospitals.
He completed his MBBC at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine in 1986, MSc in Ophthalmology in 1991, and PhD in Ophthalmology in 1994. He undertook multiple international fellowships, including oculoplastic fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital (London) and New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and a phacoemulsification clinical fellowship at Klinik Dardenne in Bonn, Germany. He was among the first surgeons to introduce modern phacoemulsification in Egypt and the Middle East in 1993.
He has held academic roles at Cairo University since 1991, progressing from Assistant Lecturer to full Professor in 2005. He is a past president of the Egyptian Society of Keratoconus and Corneal Transplant (ESKCT), and a past board member of several national ophthalmic societies.
Prof. Yehia is the author of Phacoemulsification: A Step-by-Step Guide (2007, second edition 2020), the first book on the topic published by an Egyptian or Arab ophthalmologist. He has delivered hundreds of lectures and courses nationally and internationally, with special expertise in cataract surgery (children and adults), corneal surgery, and refractive surgery.
