He specializes in medical and surgical vitreoretinal diseases and serves as Head of the Center for Intravitreal Injections in the Department of Ophthalmology at Saarland University Medical Center (UKS) in Homburg, Germany.

Bilal Haj Najeeb, MD, PhD, ABOphth, FEBO, is a medical retina and neuro-ophthalmology consultant in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Vienna, Austria. His research focuses on multimodal imaging and artificial intelligence in retinal diseases at the Vienna Reading Center and the OPTIMA Laboratory.
He completed his medical degree and ophthalmology training at Damascus University, Syria, and earned a doctorate in Clinical Neurosciences at the Medical University of Vienna. He holds both the Arabic Board of Ophthalmology certification and the European Board of Ophthalmology certification.

She established the first Ophthalmic Genetics Clinic in 2022, serving patients with inherited retinal diseases, hereditary optic neuropathies, and other genetic eye disorders from across Egypt.

Dina Baddar, MD, PhD, FRCS (Glasgow), is a Medical Retina and Uveitis Consultant in Cairo and Alexandria, and a tenured faculty member at the Research Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO) in Giza. With over 10 years of clinical experience, she is an appointed consultant of ocular inflammation for the Egyptian Health Insurance Organization (HIO) and an elected Board Member of the Egyptian Vitreoretinal Society (EGVRS).
In 2024, she co-founded the Middle East and Africa Council of Ophthalmology Uveitis Society (MEACOUS) with a group of regional uveitis experts.
Her expertise includes retinal imaging and diagnostics, retinal therapeutics, uveitis, scleritis, autoimmune ocular surface diseases, and inherited retinal dystrophies.

He is a Senior Vitreoretinal Consultant at the Jordanian Hospital in Amman. Dr. Fayyad graduated from La Sapienza University in Rome in 1976 and completed his ophthalmology residency there from 1977 to 1981 with honors. He later completed a two-year clinical retina fellowship at the University of Ottawa in Canada.
He has served at the Jordanian Ministry of Health hospitals, the King Hussein Medical Center, and the Jordan University Hospital. He is an examiner for the Jordanian Board of Ophthalmology and is actively involved in training ophthalmologists in vitreoretinal surgery.

He completed his medical degree and PhD at the University of Cambridge, followed by post-doctoral work at the Australian National University. After ophthalmology specialist training in London, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2012.
He has published more than 160 papers and several book chapters, and has received major grant funding including a ?1.1 million Wellcome Trust award. His recognitions include the Macular Society ?Rising Star of the Year? (2019) and awards for teaching excellence and public engagement (2020).

Dr. Hamam, MD, is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the American University of Beirut. She serves as Director of both the residency training program and the medical retina fellowship program. In 2008, she established the first uveitis specialty referral service in Lebanon.
She is an active member of the American Uveitis Society, an ambassador and active member of the International Uveitis Study Group, and a member of the MEACO Uveitis Society. She has organized and lectured on uveitis at national and international conferences.
Dr. Hamam is involved in multiple research projects focused on ocular inflammatory and infectious diseases and has published more than 40 scientific papers on regionally and internationally relevant topics.

He received his MD from Johns Hopkins University, where he also completed his ophthalmology residency and fellowships in neuro-ophthalmology and medical retina at the Wilmer Eye Institute.
Dr. Sadda?s research focuses on retinal image analysis, advanced retinal imaging technologies, and clinical trial endpoint design. He has authored more than 725 peer-reviewed publications, 20 book chapters, and delivered over 500 presentations worldwide.
He is Editor-in-Chief of the 7th edition of Ryan?s Retina, serves as an Editor-in-Chief of Graefe?s Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, and is on the editorial boards of Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers & Imaging, Retina, Ophthalmology Retina, Ophthalmology Science, and Ophthalmology.
His awards include the Research to Prevent Blindness Physician-Scientist Award, Senior Honor Award from the American Society of Retina Specialists, Achievement and Secretariat Awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Macula Society?s Young Investigator Award, ASRS Young Investigator Award, APAO Achievement Award, the Paul Henkind Lecture and Award, the Euretina Lecture, the Retina Society Charles Schepens Lecture, and the VRSI Nataraja Pillai Oration.
His research is continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health, including two active R01 grants from the National Eye Institute, and he has been listed among the Best Doctors of America for multiple consecutive years.

Tamer Mahmoud, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and Director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship at Associated Retinal Consultants. He previously served as Director of the vitreoretinal fellowship at Duke University and the Kresge Eye Institute.
He has pioneered multiple surgical innovations, including the use of subretinal air for submacular hemorrhage displacement (2013) and the first human autologous retinal transplantation (2015). He introduced chandelier buckles in the United States and developed the ILM retracting door technique for macular holes (2017).
In 2019, he created the nano subretinal gateway device to access the subretinal space without PPV?enabling displacement of subretinal hemorrhage, delivery of gene therapy and drugs, removal of PFO, and tumor biopsy.
In 2022, he introduced the concept of using epiretinal membrane to close large macular holes, and in 2023 performed the first combined amniotic and autologous retinal transplant for large refractory myopic macular holes with atrophy.
In recent years, Dr. Mahmoud has led global collaborative studies focused on developing treatment guidelines for challenging macular holes using the surgical techniques he helped advance.
His awards include the ASRS Presidential Honor Award, the Robert A. Machemer Research Award (Duke Eye Center), the Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award (Kresge Eye Institute), and the Golden Globe Award for resident education (Duke Eye Center), among many others.

Yousef A. Fouad, MD, FRCS (Glasg.), is a retina specialist and lecturer of ophthalmology at Ain Shams University Hospitals. He is a former visiting fellow at the Stein Eye Institute, University of California, Los Angeles, where he trained in retinal disorders and ophthalmic genetics.
He specializes in retinal imaging and macular diseases and has published more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and 3 book chapters. He also serves as an editor and reviewer for several reputable journals in the field.

He is currently a consultant specialist within the NHS, Lead of the Retina Clinical Pathway Group, and Clinical Lead for the North Central London Diabetic Eye Screening Programme.
